Disabled Access and Parking

Visitors with mobility restrictions should contact the secretary’s office for information and assistance regarding accessibility at the event, including access to the cross country course once on the course.

Please follow road signs to the disabled parking. You will need to display your blue badge at the gates.

There are viewing areas at the dressage arenas, show jumping arenas and on the cross country course which are accessible to people with disabilities (including those with wheelchairs or other mobility vehicles/aids) and these will be clearly signposted and labelled on maps which are available on the day or closer to the date on this webpage.

For safety reasons no motorised vehicles including ATV’s are permitted on the cross country course other than officials’ vehicles. Visitors with mobility restrictions who would otherwise use motorised vehicles should contact the secretary’s office for information and assistance. Where possible alternative arrangements will be made for you to access the cross country course.

Toilets

Toilets are available across the site and are marked on the Show Ground map in the programme.

Disabled toilets are marked on the Show Ground Map.

Dogs

You are really welcome to bring your dog/s to Belsay. We have a dog agility ring; where you can have a go at dog agility with your own dogs and also have gun dog and dog agility displays throughout the weekend.

Please ensure that all dogs are kept on short leads and under control at all times at the event; especially when you are on the cross country course and near the arenas. Please ensure you clear up after your dog and dispose of your rubbish in the bins provided across the course.

Ensure you do not leave dogs in vehicles at the event as they can become distressed. We will make every effort to locate the owner if this does happen but in some cases we may need to take action to free the dog.

Shopping

There are around 40 trade stands selling a range of products; a great place to get some shopping and buy some gifts. The list of trade stands will be displayed on the Shopping Village page a few weeks before the event.

Refreshments

There are numerous food and drinks stands across the site, serving everything from burgers and barista coffee to pizzas. There is also a licensed bar where you can by a range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks; the bar is located in the hospitality tent and is open to the public after 2pm each day.

If you wish to bring a picnic to the event you are very welcome to do so – we ask that you clear up any rubbish and dispose of it in one of the bins across the site.

Scores

Live scores are on display in the Hospitality tent in the main showground.

Programmes

Programmes are for sale when entering the car park or from The Secretary’s tent on the main showground.

Opening Times

The event runs from 8am-6pm from Thursday 30th May to Sunday 2nd June  with cross country, dressage and show jumping taking place on Friday and Saturday.  For more detailed information on individual classes and sections please see the timetable which will be added to the site in the week leading up to the event.  Start times for competitors can be found on www.eventingscores.co.uk website.

First Aid

First aid points are marked on the showground map in the programme. In case of an emergency please contact a member of the Horse Trials team in a high viz vest or a Belsay Horse Trials polo shirt who will be able to radio for medical attention.

What to Wear

The parkland is mixed terrain and undulating so it is advisable to wear comfortable and sturdy footwear to the event, especially if you are planning to walk the course. It is worth preparing for all conditions and it is advisable to bring wellies or walking boots and waterproofs in case of wet weather.

Lost Property

Lost Property will be held at the Secretary’s tent sited on the main showground. If you find anything please hand it to a member of the event team or take it directly to the secretary’s tent.
We will hold any lost property for a couple of months following the event – please contact the Secretary at the event or the office on 01661 881206/ admin@belsay.com following the event to see if we have your lost items.

Getting to the Event

By Car – For Satnavs please use NE20 0DX and follow the car parking signs that you will pick up on approach to the village of Belsay.

By Train – From Newcastle train station take the Metro to Callerton Station or to Newcastle Airport. From here it is a 15 minute taxi ride to Belsay Horse Trials.

By Bus – From Newcastle travel on the Otterburn or Jedburgh bus stopping at Belsay Arcade in Belsay Village from where you can walk up the main estate drive to the Horse Trials. Buses are not regular so please research bus times before you plan your trip.

How do I buy a ticket?

Tickets can be bought online via our website on the tickets page in the Visitors section prior to the event or can be bought on the gate.  Discount weekend tickets are only available online from the tickets page.

Do I have to pay for parking?

No Parking is free. Camping can be arranged, but must be pre-booked.

Can I pay by card on the gate?

Sorry, we do not have card facilities on the gate. Please ensure that you bring sufficient cash. No entry to the event will be permitted without full payment at the gate.

Will I still be able to enter the event if I forget my ticket?

If you forget to bring (or lose) your ticket you will be asked to pay the full on-gate ticket price, or be turned away. No refunds will be made for tickets bought to replace lost/forgotten tickets

Refunds for tickets

Unfortunately, no refunds are due once tickets have been purchased.

Cash Points

There are no cash points available on the Showground. Please note that the mobile reception is not always great in the park and so some vendors may not be able to take card payments. We suggest you bring plenty of cash with you and /or a cheque book.
